The embattled former Chairman of the Ad- hoc Committee on Subsidy Probe, Mr. Lawan Farouk had disclosed to the police that $500,000 out of the bribe money he collected from Otedola was submitted to a top member of the House of Representative while a total sum of $120,000. Was also collected by Mr. Emenalo,as a result of this disclosure, the IG of police had written to the Speaker of the House, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, to ensure that the lawmaker in possession of the money makes it available on Tuesday when the house resumes its next session. Sources revealed that the letter which has been written already would be delivered to the House on Tuesday at the resumption of the House.
Police source revealed that apart from the $10,000 that was recovered from Lawan’s house, another $8,000 was recovered from the house of Mr. Boniface Emenalo, who was the secretary of the Subsidy Probe Panel.
Relatively, Farouk was released on bail on Saturday around 4pm, after he had signed in a statement that he will work with the police to ensure that the bribe money is returned to the police.
Police source had also stated that it was important to write to the House leader due to Lawan’s claim that the money has since been submitted to a top member of the House.
He said, “After undergoing intense interrogation, Lawan told investigators that the money is not with him. He claimed to have kept it with a lawmaker in the House.
